The University of Canberra (UC), based in Australia’s national capital, occupies a site of almost 120 hectares in the suburb of Bruce, about eight kilometres north-west of the central business district. The Bruce precinct includes a technology park, the Australian Institute of Sport, a campus of the Canberra Institute of Technology, a major hospital and several government departments.

The University established a second campus in Brisbane in 2002. The campus, at South Bank, offers courses in a range of disciplines and augments the many activities of the University throughout Australia and at many off-shore localities.

The University’s mission is to provide the highest level of professional undergraduate education in Australia. It educates students for approximately 30 different professions, among them information technology, management, law, accounting, engineering, teaching, modern languages, marketing, journalism, design, architecture, biomedical science, psychology, nursing, environmental science and sports studies. UC has one of the highest employment rates for graduates in Australia. Courses are organised within three Academic Divisions: Business, Law and Information Sciences, Communication and Education and Health, Design and Science.

UC offers full-time and part-time courses at undergraduate and graduate level. A variety of short courses are available through its professional development programs. The University also provides a full range of professional education services to meet the training and development needs of organisations such as professional bodies and government departments. Residents of the Australian Capital Region and nearby areas also have the opportunity each year to attend UC's Open Day to learn more about the courses and opportunities that UC offers.

The University currently has enrolled approximately 10,000 students from some 90 countries. Its main source of international students is the Asia-Pacific region, but students also come to UC from Africa, North and South America, the Middle East and Europe. About 60 percent of the current student population is aged under 25 years, and 55 percent of the enrolments are women. Approximately 37 per cent study part-time, while around 20 percent are enrolled in postgraduate courses.

To complete its commitment to the education of professionals, UC provides postgraduate professional education. This is increasingly being provided in flexible formats involving intensive teaching, web-based courses and distance education. In addition, the University carries out research, training and development for the advancement of the professions. It has a strong record of achievement in applied and professional research and consultancy work that contributes directly to the knowledge base of professional practice and the quality of life.

The University of Canberra is the Australian university with a global outlook - young, dynamic and innovative, and making the professional difference.
