Charles Sturt University (CSU) is a multi-campus university with established traditions and a proud record of higher education in Australia, spanning more than 100 years.

The University is named in honour of the explorer Captain Charles Sturt who, in the 1820s - 1830s, mapped the main rivers of eastern Australia and opened up vast areas of the State of New South Wales in which CSUs three campuses are established. Those campuses - in the cities of Bathurst, Wagga Wagga and Albury-Wodonga - have earned a reputation for producing graduates prepared for effective entry into the work force and immediate on the job performance.

Charles Sturt University has a strong tradition of face-to-face teaching and convenient student access to lecturers and support staff. With excellent facilities and services at all campuses, CSU provides an outstanding environment for successful study.

The University is establishing a campus in the city of Dubbo, and has extended its influence to Canberra with course offerings in conjunction with St Mark's National Theological Centre. CSU also operates the Australian Graduate School of Police Management in Manly (Sydney) and the Centre for Professional Development (Policing) within the NSW Policy Academy at Goulburn.

Charles Sturt University has emerged as a leader in the delivery of information technology services. It is one of the largest distance education course providers in Australia, with thousands of students studying CSU courses at home from all over the world, using this technology.

The University, in cooperation with the NSW Department of School Education and other education agencies, has developed the NSW HSC On-Line web site designed to support teachers and students preparing for the NSW Higher School Certificate. Users of the site will have access to HSC information, past exam papers, study materials and advice at the home page.
