Bond University is Australia's only privately funded, independent university and consists of six academic units: the Schools of Business, Health Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Information Technology, and Law as well as the Institute for Learning Communities. The University is situated on a beautiful campus on the Gold Coast, about one hour's drive away from Brisbane, the capital of Queensland.
Bond emphasizes instruction in small groups by highly-qualified staff committed to quality in teaching. Our smaller classes enable students to receive more individualised instruction and personal assistance with their work. The smaller student numbers provide more access to facilities for individual students.
The university admits students on the basis of a comprehensive assessment, including tertiary entrance scores, school results, extracurricular activities, references, and more importantly, personal interviews. We have students who have come to study in Australia from over 60 countries making up approximately half of the student population.
There are semesters each year, starting in January, May and September. It is thus possible for a six-semester program to be completed in two years and an eight-semester program in two years and eight months. A number of three-semester coursework Masters
programs can be completed in twelve months.
Bond is very proud of the fact that our graduates are not only able to find work upon graduation but are actively sought after by a number of prestigious national and international employers and recruitment agencies.
Bond University was founded in 1987 by Alan Bond and given its University status by the State of Queensland's Bond University Act in 1988. The original joint venture partners, Bond Corp and EIE (International), oversaw the purchase of the land, building of the sandstone clad buildings, and the development of the magnificent grounds. Teaching on the campus began in May 1989.
Bond University is located on Queensland's Gold Coast which is world renowned for its magnificent beaches and waterways, national parks, rainforests and mountain ranges. It has a perfect climate of mild winters and warm summers and is a safe, clean and beautiful location.
The University attracts students from all states and territories in Australia as well as from overseas. Approximately 50% of students are coming from about 60 overseas countries.
